In the Salon of Marianna Martines

This program immerses listeners in the sounds of the influential musical salon of Maiannna Martines (1744–1812) in Vienna. A student of Joseph Haydn, Nicola Porpora, and Pietro Metastasio, Martines also hosted Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in her salon and played keyboard duets with him. Although she was also a prodigious composer herself, her music is almost entirely unknown today. This program features her own compositions as well as other music that she is known to have played in her salon.
